About the tool

About Us

Old English Translator is built for people who want fast, readable historical English style without installing software or creating an account. The tool supports modern English to Old English style, Old English to modern English, Anglo-Saxon flavor, Medieval wording, Shakespearean phrasing, and simple thee and thou conversion.

The project is designed around practical search intent. Some visitors want a true Anglo-Saxon feel. Some want Shakespeare-style text for theater, captions, jokes, or writing. Instead of forcing one meaning of "old English," the translator separates real Old English grammar mode from Early Modern style.

The offline translator uses browser-side grammar templates, pronoun metadata, be-verb rules, object pronouns, and a small vocabulary database. It is useful for creative drafts, classroom examples, role-playing, game text, captions, and quick phrase experiments. It is not a replacement for a trained historical linguist when exact grammar matters.

Who uses it

Writers use it for fantasy dialogue, inscriptions, mottos, poems, and character voice. Students use it to compare Old English, Middle English, Early Modern English, and modern English. Game developers use it for quest text, villages, item names, and worldbuilding. Casual users use it for fun captions and old-fashioned messages.

Our approach

We keep the tool simple, mobile-friendly, and transparent. The translation works offline, history stays in the browser, and the interface includes copy, TXT download, shortcut phrases, grammar notes, and dark mode.
